CHAPTER 1

Explain the driving-position need

Ask which leg, reach, headroom or entry problem the buyer needs to solve. Height alone does not describe every person's proportions. The passenger arrangement guide keeps other occupants alongside the driver.

Record actual seats, steering adjustment and roof arrangement. Similar-looking candidates can differ in equipment or later work. A broad roomy-SUV claim provides little acceptance evidence. The sourcing brief should say which position or movement must be possible and how an observation would support it.

CHAPTER 2

Compare achieved position with operation

Where feasible, have the intended person assess the car safely using normal supported adjustment. Record settings and the observation basis. A motor moving the seat establishes one function, not that the desired driving position is achieved.

The seat-benefit decision keeps optional comfort separate. Clear remote reference points can narrow choices while personal fit remains unconfirmed. Do not use a favourable posture or angle without recording the setup, or generalise another observer's result to the buyer.

CHAPTER 3

Include access and roof differences

Review ordinary entry and exit independently. Specific requirements may need personal assessment with appropriate help. A person can fit seated while access remains inconvenient, so a favourable interior view cannot answer both.

The actual roof review retains the installed arrangement without proving headroom for every occupant. Keep wanted appearance and mandatory position separate. Another candidate may be necessary when an option preference conflicts with the essential fit requirement.

CHAPTER 4

Retain the full passenger task

The rear adult-use guide assesses accommodation with the front setting unchanged. A solo-use pass should not silently become approval of routine adults behind the driver. State any accepted compromise explicitly.

Use the candidate review for seat condition and disclosed work, or appropriate new delivery checks. A substitute seat or different build needs renewed affected assessment. The driver's fit cannot establish battery or whole-vehicle condition, and a technical pass cannot establish personal comfort.

CHAPTER 5

One buyer with solo and family routines

Suppose the customer mostly drives alone but also needs regular rear adult trips. Assess both uses with the accepted front position. If another arrangement is permitted for occasional travel, record that choice rather than treating it as an unnoticed exception.

If only adjustment movement is demonstrated remotely, retain personal fit pending. Another candidate or suitable visit may be needed. Preserve the achieved or unconfirmed position in the file so the dealer can explain the actual supported use without guaranteeing comfort to all tall drivers or transferring a favourable result across different seats.

Evidence to keep with the decision

  1. Describe the regular driver's relevant position requirements rather than using height alone as the acceptance rule. Include preferred posture, ordinary access and visibility needs; people of similar stature may achieve different results, and a remote seated photograph cannot resolve every personal driving-position question.
  2. Retain the actual seat equipment and demonstrated adjustment range for the identified candidate. Do not copy a historical trim description or infer a function from its control shape; configuration evidence and relevant operation should establish the available arrangement before a preferred position is judged achievable.
  3. Record the achieved driving position and the conditions used to assess it, with suitable views and any observation limits. A position staged only to maximise clearance may not serve the buyer's ordinary use; retain any unresolved comfort or visibility question rather than crediting an attractive cabin impression.
  4. Keep ordinary entry and exit separate from sitting in place, including the parking context represented. A comfortable established position cannot demonstrate convenient access in a narrow garage, and useful clearance inside the cabin should not be used to dismiss a door-opening restriction outside it.
  5. Assess the space left for the required rear passenger with the driver's normal position maintained. Do not approve both occupants from separate favourable photographs using incompatible settings; the joint arrangement is the relevant proposition, with any luggage and regular journey constraints retained in the buying brief.
  6. Attach seat condition, disclosed work and supported remedy for an operating concern to the same vehicle. Record the buyer's accepted position and remaining personal-fit limit at equivalent offer scope; a substitute car with different equipment needs another adjustment and passenger-space review before approval is carried forward.

Questions buyers ask

Can SUV height establish tall-driver fit?

No. Actual position, reach, roof and personal proportions matter.

Does powered adjustment guarantee suitability?

No. Review the achieved position and whole required arrangement.
