Identify the customer’s required functions
List the display language, phone connectivity and cabin controls the customer needs. Distinguish offline functions from services requiring an account or connection. Ask for demonstrations on the offered car and retain the vehicle reference with the result.
A demonstration from another car may use different hardware or software. The model-year record helps keep the comparison in the correct production context. Record which functions were shown and which were merely described by the seller.
Keep driving assistance claims precise
Ask for the actual hardware and supported functions rather than relying only on a trim label. The Pro and Max comparison explains why historical rules may not apply to later versions. An equipment change does not automatically establish identical overseas service availability.
Do not describe driver assistance as a substitute for driver responsibility. Applicable operating limits, software state and service dependencies matter. A function demonstrated in the source market should not become an unrestricted promise for another location without supporting evidence.
Plan legitimate access transfer
Ask how ownership-linked access and accounts are handled through supported processes. Do not request or share a previous owner’s password to make a demonstration appear complete. Keep personal information out of general vehicle records.
Record physical keys and agreed access arrangements separately. Identify who can address software or account questions after delivery and what support they have accepted. A seller’s ability to demonstrate a feature is not the same as a continuing service commitment to the receiving dealer.
Write the accepted limits clearly
Use a function list with statuses such as demonstrated, documented or unverified. Where a regional dependency remains unresolved, keep it visible before acceptance. If a vehicle or software state changes, review whether the previous evidence still applies.
The purchase file should identify any separately agreed support arrangement and the supplied keys. Do not promise permanent connectivity, manufacturer benefits or future updates without applicable terms. Clear attribution gives the customer a realistic understanding of what the offer includes.
Example: a remote feature works in China
A seller shows a remote function working with a source-market account. Record that observation and identify the account and network dependencies without collecting personal credentials. Ask whether a supported process exists for the intended buyer and destination. Until established, describe the overseas operation as unverified. The dealer can still discuss demonstrated offline functions separately instead of allowing one successful source-market test to stand in for every part of the ownership experience.
